Judy Johnson

Judy JohnsonChamber music and many flute students fill Judy Johnson’s life. In addition to performing with both Fiori Musicali and the Music for Special Occasions Ensemble, she is an active freelance musician. Judy is a Kansas City native who received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Flute Performance from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
While she now teaches exclusively from her private studio, she has taught at the University of Kansas, Missouri Western State University and through the Continuing Education division of the UMKC Conservatory of Music. Judy is honored to have been in the orchestra for the premier performances of Gary Adam’s Wild Boy, and to be heard on the CD of that show. She is also heard on recordings made by the Trinity Choir of Kansas City’s Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral and by soprano Roberta Stark.

She has enjoyed performing on numerous concert series, both as a soloist and as an ensemble member. Her past work with young musicians includes a long tenure with Kansas City Young Audiences, and she continues to serve as Chair of the Student Activities Committee of the Kansas City Flute Association, of which she is a founding member.
